Smart Schools in Egypt
Challenge
Education at all levels is one of the most vital components that enable societies to develop and people to communicate, realizing this fact Ministry of Education (MOE) in collaboration with Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) assigned to Alkan the implementation of phase 2 of the Smart Schools project which aims at developing the IT capabilities of students in Egyptian preparatory schools by fully equipping a modern computer lab at each school and providing Internet connectivity thus allowing students to develop their IT capacities, learn new skills and benefit from the unlimited pool of resources available on the Internet. Project included deployment of the solution within 24 geographically dispersed schools scattered across Egypt within limited time span including hardware configuration, software installation, system integration, networking, internet connectivity and ICDL training for students and teachers
Solution
Fully equipping IT labs within 24 geographically dispersed schools spread across Egypt basically in Upper Egypt governorates, Canal Zone, Wadi el Gadid and Sinai, supplying the school IT labs with advanced computer networks, linked to the Internet, performing hardware configurations and software installations, overall system integration and providing Internet connectivity. Solution also included providing ICDL training for all the students & technical staff in addition to three years onsite maintenance services for the 24 Schools
