Alkan CIT announces its intention to compete for the second fixed-line telephone license

Cairo, Egypt, November 2007. Alkan CIT holding announced its intention to compete for the second fixed-line telephone license that will be rolled out by the Egyptian government over the next year. Eng. Khaled Nosseir, VP of Alkan CIT, declared that the company will be leading an alliance consisting of a number of local, Arab and International investors.

Eng. Nosseir also mentioned that the negotiations between parties of the alliance will be coming to an end soon, the identity however of the alliance will not be revealed before closing the negotiations. It is worth mentioning that Alkan CIT holds 3 subsidiaries, namely Alkan Telecom, leading telecommunications company with more than 10 years of experience in implementing and operating wireless networks, Alkan Networks, market leader in providing specialized services for GSM network operators in the Middle East and ESRI Northeast Africa, market leader in GIS applications and digital mapping. Eng. Nosseir added, 'The company is proud of its human capital, which had successfully adopted state of the art technologies, in many projects within and outside of Egypt. The company is also willing to introduce new investments shortly within the region to keep up with the rapid development within the sector of telecommunications.'
